“Cooking with Literature”. Sokołów at the 2nd Polish Language Capital Festival in Szczebrzeszyn.

This year’s Polish Language Capital Festival in Szczebrzeszyn gathered over 13,000 people. Apart from numerous meetings with authors and cultural events, the festival guests have also enjoyed “Cooking with Literature” Sokołów cooking workshops.

The workshop was hosted by the two Sokołów chefs — Dominik Moskalenko and Łukasz Konik, in cooperation with ladies from the Bodaczów Farmers’ Wives’ Association. Together, they prepared regional dishes based on traditional recipes promoted by the Association members. Each day another dish was prepared, including: Bigos from Rostocze, “leniuszki” dumplings with pork stew, “tarciuch” potato cake, baked dumplings Bodaczów-style, fried fresh pork served with home-made bread and lard. Fastival guests had a chance to not only get a taste of regional Roztocze cuisine and to learn the secrets of preparation of various dishes, but also to actively participate in cooking.

The Polish Language Capital Festival is standing in opposition to the everyday hustle and bustle of the big city. This idea blends perfectly with the values promoted by the Sokołów culinary workshops. Unrushed discoveries of new tastes, using high quality products, and taking pleasure in every meal are the pillars of the Sokołów activities.
