Sokołów is promoting a healthy lifestyle among its employees

In June 2017, a campaign was launched promoting physical activity among Sokołów S.A. employees. The company runs its internal educational programme, aimed at raising awareness of the risks associated with diabetes and promoting healthy behaviours under the slogan #ucieknijcukrzycy (run from diabetes).

The Sokołów employees were challenged with overcoming the “diabetes threshold’ (i.e. percentage level of diabetes incidence in Poland) with physical activities. Less than two months from the start of the campaign, Sokołów was able to outrun diabetes in virtually every competition and the pace is not going down.  The most active participants and their families got a chance to see the Marcin Gortat Camp final game live (Marcin Gortat Team vs. the Polish Army).

Diabetes is one of the diseases of civilization and our company has always been interested in overcoming it. Sokołów’s mission is to raise diabetes awareness and to promote its prevention not just among the consumers, but also among our own employees – says Aleksandra Chalimoniuk, Company Director, PR and Communications.  The mission of the internal #ucieknijcukrzycy programme is to combine physical activity with a conscious diet, because it is a key to health. 

Farther away from diabetes

One of the #ucieknij cukrzycy initiatives is a sport campaign that was launched in June and was aimed at mobilising employees to ride bicycles, walk, and run. – We have set ourselves an ambitious target to escape the diabetes as far as possible – says Sylwia Miszczuk, Company director, HR – We are proud of the program participants who each day exhibit fortitude and motivation to overcome internal barriers. We have achieved our first objective: We have outpaced diabetes in almost every competition, and were just less than two months into the programme – she adds.

The results leave no room for doubt that the programme is very popular.

Cycling: target 4,200 km, result 23,997 km
Walking: target 2,100 km, result 2,117 km
Running: target 2,800 km, result 7,913 km

The programme will finish by the end of October and every day new employees join the competition.

The most physically active see the Marcin Gortat Camp game

Sokołów S.A. has been the partner of Marcin Gortat Camp for many years. It’s a campaign aimed at promoting physical activity. It features a series of basketball trainings for kids, organised by a foundation of the Polish Washington Wizard player – Marcin Gortat. The #ucieknijcukrzycy programme participants who achieved the best results were invited with their families to see the Marcin Gortat Camp final game live. For amateur sportsmen meeting the champion and getting positive motivation was a great prize. The match between Marcin Gortat Team and the Polish Army took place at the Lodz Atlas Arena.
