Information on production and cooperation between Sokołów S.A. and Polish farmers

Regarding information that’s been circulating in the media and in interviews with protesters, we are advising that they are false, and not only detrimental to the good name of the Company, but also misleading Polish consumers.

We inform that over 90% of meat used in production in the Sokołów S.A. production plants comes from Polish breeders. This means that Sokołów S.A. buys livestock from over 4500 entities (approximately 2000 pig breeders and 2500 cow breeders).

Both groups of breeders contain entities (for example dealers, groups, cooperatives, associations) that provide livestock coming from a larger number of individual farmers. We are unable to determine exactly how many individual farmers have sold us their livestock.

2014 was a record-breaking year for Sokołów S.A. in terms of the number of animals slaughtered, which means that the company has bought much more raw materials from the Polish farmers than in the previous years. Importing meat is a last resort; import constitutes 6.3% of the total raw material used for production, while export constitutes 22.9%.
